Ireland started off the game with immense pressure, and Jack Crowley scored the opening penalty in the first 9 minutes of the game. England had a few chances to score, but Ireland just kept stopping them with brilliant defence. Ireland are playing more like Ireland. Ireland played a fast-paced game and controlled England left, right and centre. They scored three fast running tries, earned loads of penalties and used them effectively. Ireland thought they would hang on until half time, but a late try in overtime was scored from Dingwall in the 42nd minute, ending the first half England 7, Ireland 22.
The second half started the same way, but this time Dan Sheehan ran in a try in the first three minutes. Ireland kept breaking down and tearing the England defence time and time again; England could not play their own game. The crowd fell silent many times during this game, and you could hear the away crowd singing The Fields of Athenry.
England eventually got into the move and scored two tries, while Ireland scored one, but Crowley, as I think proved why he is the better number 10 for Ireland today, knocked over two penalties to keep them chasing. Near the end, England nearly scored, but with great effort and using all his might, the big centre Stuart McCloskey made a huge tackle. He played an outstanding game with line breaks and crucial tackles. Unfortunately, he did not score a try; that is the only reason I think Jamison Gibson-Park got Man of the Match.
This was a horrible match from an English point of view, as they could not get their hands on Ireland. They made a lot of mistakes and, at the end, were frustrated and talking back to the ref, which showed that things were not going the way they would have liked. This also means that it is another loss in the Six Nations Championship for them. Overall, a great game to watch and very enjoyable.
