Six Nations: Scotland vs France
Scotland vs France

Location: Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Scotland started the game on their toes and ran in a beautiful try by Darcy Graham. France then woke up and ran in two tries, scored by Louis Bielle-Biarrey, and another from a kick through by Bielle-Biarrey to Théo Attissogbé in the space of four minutes, showing how lethal they can be when they react.
This half was intense and hard to watch at times, but Scotland bounced back from a lineout move straight off the training ground as Kyle Steyn beautifully ran it in, bringing the game right back. France didn’t really get the chance to react after that try, and Scotland decided to strike again as Pierre Schoeman heaved his way over the line.
Bielle-Biarrey showed again how strong he is with the ball in hand, and Scotland showed just how good they can be, putting France behind at half-time for the first time in this year’s Six Nations Championship. This half was exciting and proper edge-of-the-seat stuff.
The second half started the same way, with Scotland over in the first 3 minutes, scored by Ben White. From there on it was the best Scotland performance ever. Their passes, their kicks, their tackles — everything went their way and it was beautiful to watch. The crowd definitely got their money’s worth.
Kyle Steyn especially was outstanding, along with all the other try scorers for Scotland. From a French point of view it was disappointing. The French team looked shocked, and at times it almost looked like they forgot how to play the game of rugby.
In the end they did take advantage of Scottish fatigue and brought the score closer so it didn’t look like such a drought. Still, it was an amazing game that Scotland brought to us today. It was a joy to watch and so intense.
I totally agree with man of the match Kyle Steyn — his runs, his passes, and of course his tries really earned it. Unfortunately he picked up an injury at the end. All of Scotland’s players played excellently today, and a lot of the French players needed to up their game.
Scotland will hope to do the same to Ireland next week, while France will need to bring back their power before facing England.
Final score: Scotland 50 – 40 France.
